Boulders Resort & Spa, Scottsdale

The location was perfect for us. The amenities were nice. The private deck was a great place for a morning cup of coffee.

There was a lot of deferred maintenance to the exterior of our casita [stairs, walkway, paint]. We killed quite a few insects in our casita.

The location is amazing and the layout of the resort was fabulous. Absolutely loved the views and the landscape. My phone hot spot was a stronger connection then the Guest WiFi.

The property is in need of repair. We had plumbing issues in our room from day 1. The room service / guest services is almost non-existent. We needed an iron as ours was in complete disrepair and wasn't working. We never received it. People in our group had dirty rooms etc... As our unit was not only a bit of a distance from the lodge and from the executive suite we had our meeting at it would have been nice to have the shuttles (golf cart valets) show up on time.

The property and scenery are aways very nice and relaxing and the service is always top notch.

We requested the same room we book every year a this time. However, upon arrival we were informed due to heavy booking they were unable to accommodate us and instead they booked us in a handicap equipped room. It was a nice room but there was no shower or bathroom door to be able to accommodate a wheelchair which was not convenient for us.

As a first visit to Arizona, the Boulders was perfect for that desert feel! The boulders are AMAZING and so ancient and it doesn’t just feel like ‘a hotel in a golf course’. Be aware that the casitas (standard rooms) have 2 x small doubles in them - too small to share for me and my 2 kids for a few days. The receptionist, Shirley, was excellent to help find us an executive suite which had a king bed and they provided a roll-away bed as well. The golf-pro, Don, who gave my kids lessons was great with them and they had a great time. When I finally reached the concierge, Nancy, she was very helpful and organised 2 great activities - UTVs and Cactus Jack. It was hard to find email details for concierge/golf/tennis but eventually I located them! The golf buggy guys who pick you up are good. There’s lots of wildlife around the resort which is an added bonus. Renting a car is strongly recommended. It’s very near an area called Cave Creek which is full of cowboy restaurants and definitely worth visiting! The resort pool is nice and has a jacuzzi next to it.. drink a resort lemonade next to it in the sun!

The resort is quite old and a challenge to maintain due to the natural way it’s been built into the landscape. eg: there are no showers by the resort pool. Some of the staff come across as disingenuous.. they pretend to be helpful but really they make you feel as if something is your fault! There were no cooking/heating facilities in the casitas, just a coffee machine and small fridge.

Needs more entertainments , maybe the restaurant more variety of dishes. My low review is because during my stay, I did not find shampoo to bathe myself, I reported it to the hotel staff, but during my 3-day stay, two days I was without shampoo.

Restaurant for breakfast on Thursday morning was horrible, dead flowers on all the tables. The restaurant manager checked on us She was wearing a black suit. She had a crop top on with her stomach showing, very unprofessional. Two rude older women one was the hostess and one was our waitress, slow, unfriendly, not attentive to our needs Food was fair for the resort price. Not happy at all!! Friday two blonde waitress were excellent, food was much better.

We had a golf cart driver that was rude, and drove like a mad man. We both had to hold on every corner was scary. We complained to golf cart attendant and he laughed at us. Golf cart driver was mid age and very muscular quite the attitude. We have decided we will not be returning to this resort. Pool was old and in need of repair. The pool lounges are very uncomfortable not resort style. Wingback chairs in our room very uncomfortable.

Four stars. I’ve stay at several Four Seasons and this is as close as you’re going to get. We stayed 5 nights 6 days in a 3 bedroom casita with 7 of us and it was perfect. Staff were friendly and very attentive. The text ability to request items or ask questions was top notch and responsive.

Be prepared to walk or be shuttled around the property. However, we never waited more than a few minutes for a cart or shuttle.

Great scenery and dramatic landscape.

The staff were shocking. Everything was about money. Not coming from a culture where tipping is a “must”, I was shocked to be met with tuts, smirks and disapproving looks because I only tipped 10%. That wasn’t the worst of it though - things really unravelled after I left and after I checked out. The hotel tried to bill me £300 AFTER my account was closed and I was back in the UK. They claimed the extra was for the room & claimed booking.com got the price wrong for the room I was staying in. Booking.com & Amex ended up getting involved to force the return of the £300 because the room booking.com quoted is what was pre-agreed. But it doesn’t stop there. A month after leaving, I received a call from my card company saying someone had used the same card (which I only used at Boulders) to make a £500 purchase at Walmart, Scottsdale - the same area as Boulders. My card provider advised it looks like my card was skimmed a month earlier when I was staying at Boulders and as such cancelled the card & refused the transaction.

Beautiful landscaping, well maintained resort, with great facilities, fabulous service from friendly staff, tasty breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant.

Towels and linens were not great quality, no kettle in room, leaf blower woke us up daily, had to run the shower for a long time to get hot water. No windows to open and had to keep the patio doors closed due to wildlife.

Room service left a lot to be desired. It was an inconvenience to the person taking our order over the phone. It took forever for our food to arrive and when it did arrive it was not what we ordered.

Couples massage we had at the spa was excellent, we both really enjoyed it and will be returning. The breakfast we had at the Palo Verde restaurant was great, the food was fresh and very tasty, I highly recommend. Also, all staff we came into contact with were very nice and friendly.

The views were amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The setting in the boulders is always special.

The room was dated. The view off our patio was looking down on a roof with 2 old rusty AC units, not great! Bed was fine but the rest of the furniture was old. The door had to be busted open with a shoulder in it. Food prices were exorbitant. This is a Curio Brand for Hilton...should be like a JW Marriot brand...not the case with the room quality AT ALL! Very disappointed with the $$ spent even with a summer rate.

Beautiful resort. We absolutely loved it and the staff were wonderful. The food was delicious at every restaurant.

It’s a little far out from things but it is a minor inconvenience. Bees at the pool were bad one day but it was remedied quickly by the pool staff.

Beautiful facility and grounds! My husband loved the golfing and I enjoyed the Spa. The rooms were clean, spacious and cozy. The room certainly was as pictured!

The parking was a little far and at night it is very dark. More lightning around grounds would be better.

I didn’t care to be directly below the person or persons staying in a room above me. The ceiling is very thin and you could hear stomping and banging around very clearly. This was several times during the night and I didn’t get much sleep.

All of the dining experiences were wonderful. Every item was delicious and prepared perfectly. I requested a Mountain View and I did receive it. The bell staff was amazing. The Villa was incredible.

The housekeeping was lacking. Sometimes we were left towels and toiletries. Other times we were left with nothing or they would remove any extras we had. We had to call for toiletries once because they left 1 towel for 3 people and no toiletries. The next day housekeeping took our extra toiletries and left no toilet tissue. Very inconsistent. No vacuuming at all and the patio was dirty upon arrival and never cleaned. And I am being billed for things I shouldn't and communicating with them about it is proving difficult. 5 Stars? hm

I used this stay as a weekend staycation. The location was amazing and I really enjoyed the scenery, solitude and the ambiance. I would recommend this place to anyone local looking for a quick weekend getaway.

We loved the grounds and our room, especially our view! We even blew off dinner reservations and ordered room service because we liked our room and our porch so much, we wanted to take full advantage of the relaxing vibe of it! Ask for casita 224, it’s perfect!

The only thing we didn’t like was the conference people that were there were loud all day in the pool and kind of obnoxious. They even woke us up at midnight and again at 3am just being drunk and loud.
