The Olsen Hotel, Melbourne

Well-presented deluxe twin room. Great value.

Great location

From the moment we walked in to check in we felt so very welcomed. The lovely lady behind the counter was absolutely amazing, even fielding calls from a guest who was shall I say unruly on the phone! To the lolly bar and icy poles on arrival to just the sense of being in a lovely hotel it was clearly evident how relaxing and enjoyable this stay was. The rooms were wonderful and well laid out (for a studio). I have never stayed at the Olsen but I will definitely be back.

Unfortunately there was limited parking however straight across the road there was another carpark with plenty of room and weekend rates.

Good sized room with good facilities and VERY comfortable bed!

The bathroom basin was damaged could do with repair and the bathroom door scraped on the floor needs re aligning

The bathroom door doesn't provide much privacy or sound proofing. Also, the door did jam slightly.

Our room was quiet and comfortable

The one thing that was disappointing was the service of our room we were out for the day and it hadn’t been done and I had to ring house keeping . The other was I asked for early morning wake up call I did not receive it . They both could be improved .

Gave us chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of brut for valentines and our anniversary! Wrote a card too, was so nice and hotel was lovely.

Lack of meal on Xmas Day night, despite being informed the restaurant was open till 9pm when I checked in at 7.30pm. Ended up having a Subways.

Snacks on offer, as I unexpectedly didn't go out for dinner. The pod coffee machine and superior tea selection was a nice surprise. I also liked the location. I lived in South Yarra 40 years ago and that part of Chapel St was not very nice at all, car dealerships etc from what I remember. It now looks lovely with street trees, cafe and open side streets, slightly Parisian style

My only criticism is that the bed did not face the TV. I was supposed to stay with my partner but he unfortunately couldn't make it at the last minute due to a medical episode. So instead of going out I stayed in and watched the Olympics on TV. Even though I extended the TV on an angle, it was not really comfortable when sitting up on the bed and straining my neck sideways

There was an issue at check in which was eventually resolved and I was delighted with my upgrade to balcony suite No 102. I was originally charged an extra $30 per night for my 2-night stay. Jess kindly refunded both nights due to my fridge not working and the issue at check in. Don’t lose her! She is a great asset to your team. Excellent attitude.

Room: Noisy aircon squeaking through the night and day Restaurant hours: Closing at 8:35 pm on a Thursday, not even able to order room service, what a joke for this type of hotel. I was tired, and I did not want to go out or eat in my room.

Great location and vibe. Room great , mini kitchenette more than i would expect in a hotel room. Lolly jars in foyer a bit dangerous!

Too dark in bathroom to apply makeup. Extra lighting would improve.

Excellent stay in one bedroom with balcony room. Aircon did its job in dreadful heat! Clean, comfortable & terrific bed. Lovely staff. Shower over a deep bath was unexpected & a little tricky, especially without a grab rail to safely navigate access.

Wonderful location & very comfortable room. Very helpful staff.

The decor in our room was lovely with the exception of the en-suite sink which needed to be re-enamelled.

A beautiful room. Loved the decor. Kitchenette was amazing. Loved to be able to get drinking water from a kitchen tap and not a bathroom basin tap. Lighting was good, block out curtains fantastic. Enjoyed the lollies at reception!!!

The bedside nearest the window was not comfortable it was lumpy, so slept on other side near wall. There was never any hand/body cream in the container at bathroom basin. The curtain was not connected on all the hanging hooks at both ends Unfortunate having building noise next door from so early but not too bad.

Location and the room was well appointed. Bed was comfortable and comfy pillows. Bathroom and shower was good - nice with the shampoo & body wash being in bottles so we are not adding to landfill with tiny plastic tubes.

Construction next door - noisey. Restaurant closing early so we missed our free drinks. Pool area could with a refresh. Looks a bit worn. Gym a bit cramped.

I was upgraded immediately when my original room had a non working air conditioner.

They should have been careful giving me a room that had a broken air conditioner. Need to check rooms carefully so that everything is working properly.
