The Ruthland Hotel, Edinburgh

Good location and the room was excellent.

This is the best place we have ever stayed. Everything exceeded our expectations. The furnishings are of an extremely high standard, the apartment was huge. It was cleaned every day. The staff are extremely kind. The location is the best in Edinburgh - everything is within walking distance. It exceeded our expectations!

The location (everything within 20 minutes of walking and it was also quiet) and the service were top notch.

The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. A lovely apartment, comfortable and clean with everything you need on your doorstep.

We got upgraded so we were pleased to have a little more space. The room was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Location was very good and the NCP car park was a 3 minute walk away (good when you’re having to carry bags). We were relieved that the parking was only £45 for 3 days with the Rutland discount code. Download the NCP app, add your card info then scan your QR code at entry to the car park. Add your discount code to the app. When you leave scan the QR code again and it’ll work out how much. There were lots of spaces free at castle terrace. Overall couldn’t fault the hotel. My bf enjoyed the tea cakes. I’d recommend and stay again.

Lovely decor, comfortable chairs in room complementary tea and coffee machine. Tunnocks tea cakes were a hit. Although not used there was a comprehensive bar available in the room. GHD hairdryer and straighteners. Lovely bathroom with rain shower.

Apartment 15/4 was stunning. Very quirky and the perfect space to spend a few nights in with family and/or friends.

It was perfect!

The superb location, the engaging and helpful staff, their welcome for one night guests and the ambience, not forgetting the superb junior suite, the luxury of a bath and a room with a truly spectacular view. The handy Fitness suite was also well appointed. Delighted to report that the breakfast and lunch on offer at the Huxley were both delicious and added to the pleasure of our all too brief stay.

Almost nothing although it was something of a disappointment to note that GB ‘News’ was on offer - made it altogether easier not to bother polluting the screen by switching on the T.V.

The location was perfect and the rooms were spotless. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a castle view room which was unexpected and brilliant which really made our stay that wee bit better. All the staff were rlly lovely, greeting us every time we entered/exited the building.

Just a short stroll to the castle and shops and restaurants outside the door - Room was quiet and very comfortable. When I arrived the heating was on - towel warmer toasty warm and chocolates on arrival and quiet music playing. Gorgeous spot

This is a long overdue review so apologies for the delay, but my fiance and I traveled to Edinburgh from NYC for our engagement trip. We initially booked a standard room, but I had put in my notes that it was an engagement trip and requested some champagne. Not only were we greeted by the kindest and most welcoming concierge - but she UPGRADED up to an apartment!! We were absolutely blown away. Upon entering the apartment there was champagne, choclocates, and a very sweet note from the staff. They absolutely exceeded out expectations and this updgrade made our stay that much more special. HIGHLY recommend for anyone traveling to Edinburgh - you will not regret. The location is prime as well - Edinburgh caslte right outside our door and easily accessible to all locations. Rutland Hotel - we will be back! Thank you so much for making this trip so amazing.

We stayed in this apartment at the beginning of January for one night, as two couples, and had a very pleasant experience. The apartment is located in an annex of the hotel, on the third floor, and there is no elevator — exactly as mentioned in the listing. Despite this, the apartment is beautiful, very well decorated, and extremely cozy. The heating system was very efficient, and we did not feel cold at all during our stay. When we arrived, we were welcomed with complimentary chocolates, which was a lovely touch. The apartment also provided still and sparkling water, as well as dishwasher products. There is also a minibar with paid beverages. The location is excellent and very central, with a supermarket just a few meters away and many shops and restaurants nearby. Edinburgh Castle is about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the property. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Edinburgh.

The only thing we missed was a washing machine in the apartment, as sometimes we arrived late and would have liked to do some laundry. However, the property does offer a paid laundry service.

The hotel was amazing. The man @ the front desk was exceptional. We will be back.

The Rutland was amazing! The room was very spacious and great location. Breakfast at The Huxley was great value for money. I will stay here again next time I’m in Edinburgh.

Great location. It's easy to walk to anywhere in Central Edinburgh from here. The apartment was spacious and well furnished. It was styled beautifully but not at the expense of comfort. It was surprisingly quiet with very comfy beds, so easy to get a good nights sleep. The reception staff couldn't have been more helpful. I would stay here again.

We had the best night sleep ever!. Hotel is located in the city center, but you don't get any noise from outside. Beds are very comfortable and room was spacious and very clean. staff was nice and helpful. I would highly recommend this place.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel in Edinburgh. The room was very clean, beautiful, and comfortable, with an amazing view of the castle and the city. The staff were incredibly lovely and friendly, always happy to help and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
